Shayne Evans is a Founder and Managing Partner of The Academy Group. The Academy Group unlocks opportunity for young people from the nation’s most resilient communities to realize their full potential as economic, educational and social change agents.

Previously Evans served as the Chief Executive Officer of the University of Chicago Charter School and its four campuses, as well as managing director of the University of Chicago Urban Education Institute.

Prior to becoming CEO of the University of Chicago Charter School, Evans served as the director of the UChicago Charter Woodlawn campus and co-founded the UChicago Charter Carter G. Woodson campus. Before joining the UChicago Charter School, he worked as an 8th grade mathematics teacher at the Chicago International Charter School-Bucktown campus.Evans began his teaching career in Chicago Public Schools.
